Do you ever find yourself in a situation and think, "It is, what it is"? I have heard it said before, "It's just the hand that I've been dealt." Or maybe my favorite, "Life happens." All of these phrases reference the unexpectedness of life and the troubles it brings. I know for me, the holidays have always been a fond time. This year will be different for many reasons. Life happens, and we lose people we love. The washer goes out again, and that one tire that's always low is still low. As I get older, the hard part for me is realizing there are more things that can go wrong. Sometimes, it feels like every aspect of life can have something that makes me think, "It is what it is."
Isn't it amazing that God saw us in our sin and didn’t say, "It is what it is"? No matter what happens in life, we can rest in the promise of knowing Jesus died on the cross and gave us a way to change our spiritual future. He changed our situation from "It is what it is" to giving us hope when we feel lost. We can find strength and hope in who Jesus is and who He created us to be.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith
for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:3-5
Run to the hope we have in Jesus when life tries to tell you things will never change.
