One thing I have learned about God is – HE IS FAITHFUL. God is perfectly faithful, steadfast, and true. Faithfulness is the very essence of who God is. Numbers 23:19 says, "God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?" It is so important for Christians to fully believe that God is faithful. If you don’t embrace this fact, you won’t seek out His will, trust Him with your possessions, or be able to fully enjoy His presence.

In Philippians 1:6, God's word promises, "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Romans 8:28 promises, "We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." No matter what I have done or the circumstances of my life, I have learned that God is and always will be there for me.

My whole life is a demonstration of this fact, but one illustration is when I felt a call from God to leave family, friends, job, house, and security and go overseas to Korea as a career missionary. I sold everything and just trusted God to meet our financial, physical, and relational needs. Upon landing in Korea, it became quickly evident if I were to have any success in my new ministry, it would be determined by my ability to learn a new language. That could have been a scary thing because my language classes in high school and college were just sub-par. Also, my daughter (age 6 at the time) left her grandparents, friends, and school to begin a foreign school with new habits, customs, and language. But as soon as I landed in Korea, God’s faithfulness showed up in abundance. God did meet my financial, physical, and relational needs. I made some incredible lifelong friends. I graduated first in my language class, and my daughter loved her new school, made new friends, and developed a love for cultures. In fact, she currently serves in Guatemala as a Foreign Services security agent, responsible for the security of Foreign Service personnel.

For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Isaiah 54:10

Faithfulness is foundational to the very character of God. God's steadfast love for you is surer than the very ground you walk on.

As you step outside today, take time to look at the world around you. Think about the things you've put your trust in. And remember God promises that His faithfulness will outlast anything your eyes can see.
