That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go.

I’m telling you, “Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.”

Isaiah 41:10 (MSG)

Have you ever gone through something really hard and wondered if God was really there with you, or asked God why He would allow this to happen to you? Why does it have to be this way? Have you ever watched a friend or family member go through something, and you stopped and wondered and asked God why? Why would You allow this to happen to them? Why? Why?

Recently, I have watched some friends go through things that make me sad and make me not understand. So in my car, I just started talking to God and asked “Why would You allow this to happen to them? This is going to hurt them, not help them.” Do you know what God’s answer was to me? “Your thoughts are not my thoughts and your ways are not my ways” (Isaiah 55:8). I have read this scripture so many times, and every time throughout that weekend when I asked God why, immediately that scripture would come to my head. I know God was reminding me that my human thoughts are not His. God’s plans are for us to get closer to Him, to be dependent on Him. His plans are for us to have FAITH in Him. He has plans that we don’t see. His plans are for eternal purpose. Sometimes the plan we are in, one that is hard for us, is for us to help others through their trial down the road.

God’s ways are hard to understand sometimes, and can break our hearts. I know I have FAITH that His ways are the best, even if I don’t understand…because there are a lot of things I don’t understand. God totally answered my deepest desire and prayer in His way.

Today, if you are going through anything, or someone you love is going through something big, stop trying to take it on yourself. There is a God up in Heaven who wants to be in relationship with you and talk you through it. I promise He is listening, and He will show up when it is time. He is not angry with you if you come to Him with whys. He wants to listen to your hurts and fears and confusion, but He also wants you to put your full trust in Him. Until then, keep talking to Him. God is the only one who will give you comfort and peace in the middle of the storm! Praying for you this week.
