The concept of prayer in the Hebrew Bible is an evolving means of interacting with God, most frequently through a spontaneous, individual, unorganized form of petitioning and/or thanking. (wikipedia)

I grew up in a home that always prayed. That is how we battled everything. I remember hard situations in life and the first thing we did is go to God in prayer. I have a grandma that we would call constantly and ask her for prayer. She prayed for our whole family and we would call her our “prayer warrior”.  My grandma has Alzheimers right now, but she still has amazing prayers. Her mind isn't there, but her spirit still longs for God.

This is where I always want to be. I want to constantly long to be in conversation with God. I want to be okay with this happening anywhere even if I look strange to others or it appears that I am talking to myself. I long to spend that time talking with God no matter where I am or who is around.

This past week God has just been reminding me to come to Him. Come to Him for help with my family, how to parent my son, how to be a better wife, how to teach our kids about God, how to be a friend to my friends, how to love people in general. There are days where I am good at this and then there are days that I battle to talk to God. It’s not that I don't love Him, but I just forget, I get busy and just struggle with words. These are the days that are rough for me. These are the days I just need to stop and go back to Him.

Where have you been in your prayer life? Are you afraid to ask God for something? Are you afraid that He won’t answer? Are you afraid He will let you down? I encourage you to go to God anyway. Even if you have messed up, come to Him with your failures, He is there waiting for you. Ask God what you are afraid to ask. He will never let you down. Even if His answer to your prayer is “no” right now, He has a plan for you life that will be perfect for you. He is your Heavenly Father and is far better than any earthly father will be. Stop today right where you are and talk to God. Cry out to Him, ask for comfort and peace in the middle of what is happening. He is listening. Lifting you in prayer as you read this today.

Never stop praying.  Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 NLT
