Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness!

Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God!

It is he who made us, and we are his;

we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!

Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good;

his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100:1-5

As much as I love to worship the Lord, there are simply times I just don't feel like it. It might be because I'm stressed, worried, annoyed, or simply tired. As humans, we are constantly weaving in and out of different seasons, and when difficult challenges accompany them, it becomes challenging to engage a time of worship with God. When life gets out of control, worship all too often doesn’t make the priority list, which at face value is understandable. However, God still desires us to praise Him through all seasons, and there is perhaps no better example of this than Psalm 100.

The psalms are filled with worship songs written in every season. Take the life of David for example, and the many psalms he wrote. We see that he worshiped when he was joyous. When he was heartbroken, he sang to the Lord about it. Whether he was worried, angry, happy, or hopeful, David's response was the same…a time of worship. I think that's what Psalm 100 is about. We are commanded to worship God, not because we are having a great week or because we are in the mood to. We are to worship because "the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever." We are called to worship because "He is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." I want to challenge you, whatever season you are in, to worship the Lord…because simply put, He is God, and He is good.
