Reflecting On Not Coming Down

From those of us on the Tree Church Daily team, we hope that you have had an amazing week in your purposed time with God. We pray that you were challenged and encouraged by God’s word and His presence in your daily life.

Today we want you to do something simple, yet incredibly important. We want you to take time to write in a notebook, journal, or record a voice memo in your phone answering the prompts below. This does not need to be profound, poetic, or polished. It is a record for you to visit later to see and remember all that God is doing in your life. Journaling is a way to remind you of what God is speaking to you. And speaking something out or writing it down makes what we are thinking tangible and makes us accountable to it. If God has challenged you or called you to do something specific this past week, making it tangible makes it real. So don’t skip today; today is about faith building, and that is what we pray happens for you.

But before we get started though, let’s pray together:

God, I am extremely grateful for the calling You have placed on my life and for being with me every step of the way. Whenever I face opposition and challenges, You guide me through them, showing Your strength and love as I persevere. As I take some time to reflect, please help me to hear Your voice and protect my heart from any distractions. May this time be used as a stepping stone on my journey to fulfilling your incredible calling that we are doing good work and we are not coming down. Thank You for Your constant presence in my life and for all the glory You display. I love You, Lord. Amen.

Here are today’s prompts for you to process in your written or voice journal:

First, focus on what God is calling you to do. What great work is the Lord asking you to take a step forward in faith toward? In what area is He asking you to have unwavering faith and stay the course, and to trust Him as He leads you?

Secondly, prepare yourself to face opposition and attacks as you answer His call. Guard your heart and prepare for battle. Sometimes you may feel like giving up, but think about how will you persevere and allow God to show Himself during challenging times!

Lastly, take time to praise the glory of God that is evident in your life. Even if you are experiencing a season filled with obstacles, God’s glory is still on display. Write down how God's hand is over your life and how He has led you through adversity.
