Empowered for Service

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.

Reading: Luke 9:1-6, Acts 1:8

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

Jesus sent out His disciples with power and authority, but with minimal provisions. This required them to rely fully on God's power rather than their own resources. Similarly, the early church was empowered by the Holy Spirit to be Christ's witnesses.

How often do we rely on our own strength or resources instead of God's power? Reflect on areas in your life where you need to trust more in God's empowerment.

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
  1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
  2. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh today, enabling you to serve and witness effectively for Christ.
  3. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Holy Spirit, empower me to serve and witness for Christ. Help me trust in Your strength rather than my own. Amen.
  4. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

Take Action:
  1. Spend five minutes in prayer asking for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and empowerment.
  2. Step out in faith to share your testimony or encourage someone with God's Word.
