God Uses Signs to Get Your Attention

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.  

Reading: Matthew 2:1–2, Psalm 19:1–6

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.  
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

The Magi noticed what others overlooked—a star announcing the birth of a King. God still uses signs today to draw our attention: unexpected interruptions, recurring thoughts, timely conversations, or Scripture that suddenly feels personal. These moments are not accidents; they are invitations. The question isn’t whether God is speaking, but whether we are paying attention. Busyness, comfort, and distraction can dull our spiritual sight. Today, consider where God might be gently pointing you toward Himself. What has He been placing in your path again and again? God does not always shout; sometimes He whispers until we choose to listen.

What “sign” might God be using right now to draw my attention toward Him?

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…  

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).  
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: God, open my eyes to see where You are at work. Help me slow down, pay attention, and respond when You are calling me closer.
   
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.  

Take Action:

1. Reflect on recent events or thoughts that have repeatedly surfaced and ask God what He may be revealing.
   
   
2. Spend a few quiet minutes today asking God to make His direction clear.
