Acts 21:37-22:21 | Paul Shares His Story of Faith
“When we think about our witness, our testimony, that is the calling for us. We can't always have the answers, but what we know is what we've experienced with God.” – Pastor Chris
In this Tree Church Bible Study, Pastors Stacy, Anthony, and Chris continue their walk through the book of Acts, focusing on Paul’s powerful testimony in Acts 21:37–22:21. The study begins with a lighthearted exchange about favorite biblical figures before moving into the seriousness of Paul’s story.
The passage describes Paul’s arrest in Jerusalem, the accusations against him, and his request to address the people. Speaking in their own language, Paul explained his background, his zeal for the law, and his determination to protect Jewish traditions. But then he recounted the moment that changed everything: his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus.

Speaking in their own language, Paul explained his background, his zeal for the law, and his determination to protect Jewish traditions. But then he recounted the moment that changed everything: his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus.
Paul’s Encounter With Jesus
Paul told the crowd how a bright light from heaven surrounded him, how he was blinded, and how he heard the voice of Jesus asking, “Why are you persecuting me?” Led into Damascus, he met Ananias, who restored his sight and declared that God had chosen Paul to be a witness.
The pastors reflected on Paul’s honesty and the bluntness of his story. His testimony was not just an explanation of what happened but also a defense of his credibility. By sharing both his past and the moment of transformation, Paul showed the reality of his encounter with Jesus.

Why Testimony Matters
The conversation then turned to the importance of sharing personal testimonies today. Just as Paul connected with his listeners by telling his story, modern believers can also bear witness to what God has done in their lives. The pastors noted that testimony is more than a list of facts- it is personal, relational, and often breaks through defenses where arguments cannot.
Stories resonate because they are real and human. Just as listeners trusted Paul when he shared specific names and details, people today are drawn to authentic accounts of how God has been faithful. Testimony establishes credibility and invites others to consider the possibility of God’s presence in their own lives.

Encouragement for Sharing Faith
The pastors acknowledged that many people feel tension when it comes to sharing their testimony. They encouraged listeners not to worry about having all the answers but simply to tell their story of how Christ has changed their lives. They reminded the audience that even small “chapters” of a testimony- moments where God brought peace, healing, or hope- can connect powerfully with others.
They also emphasized the importance of living consistently, noting that our actions can either strengthen or weaken our words. Asking questions, showing genuine care, and meeting people where they are can create natural opportunities to share faith.

Testimonies From the Pastors
To illustrate, each pastor shared part of their own story. Pastor Anthony described how reading Scripture in college confronted him with the reality of his choices and led him to surrender to God. Pastor Chris reflected on his teenage years, his questions, and how God’s call at a conference transformed his direction. Pastor Stacy shared her steady walk with God from childhood, noting how His consistent faithfulness through hardship is her greatest testimony.
Together, their stories revealed the variety of ways God meets people, sometimes through radical moments of change, sometimes through a lifetime of steady faith. All of these testimonies matter, and all of them point to God’s transforming power.

Closing Prayer
The study concluded with prayer, thanking God for His Word and asking Him to continue forming Christ in the lives of believers. The pastors encouraged listeners to remember that their own story matters, whether dramatic or steady, and that God uses testimony to reach others with the truth of Jesus.
