Surrender Gains
Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: James 1:5–8; Proverbs 3:5–6
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
God isn't hiding His will from you—He wants to reveal it. The invitation to ask for wisdom isn't a test to see if you're spiritual enough; it's an expression of God's desire for relationship and guidance in your life. But asking requires faith without doubting, a settled confidence that God truly wants to direct your steps. Many believers struggle not because God is silent, but because they haven't created space to listen. Prayer isn't just presenting requests; it's positioning yourself to receive divine direction. This week, practice "open hand prayers"—bring what God has given you and ask what He wants you to do with it. Then wait in silence. Listen for nudges, checks in your spirit, or unexpected clarity. God's thoughts toward you are more numerous than sand; He's not withholding guidance, He's waiting for you to seek it.
What am I afraid to fully trust God with?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: “Lord, I trust You more than my own understanding.”
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Take Action:
- Ask God for wisdom today.
- Sit in silence for 2 minutes and listen.
