Ready for the Moment.
Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: Acts 3, 4
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read. After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
The disciples’ boldness wasn’t a one-time experience. They developed a new rhythm of obedience, responsiveness, and dependence on the Holy Spirit. In Acts 3, Peter and John were ready when an unexpected opportunity came, and in Acts 4, after being threatened, they gathered with their friends and prayed for greater boldness. The Holy Spirit continued to fill them and empower them to speak about Jesus with courage. What might God want to do through you if you lived each day ready and responsive to His leading?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Father, make me attentive to the moments You place in front of me. Help me recognize opportunities to love, serve, speak, and act in obedience. Give me boldness to respond when You invite me to participate in what You are doing.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today. Faith Step: Pray before you begin your day, “God, make me ready for whatever You put in front of me today,” and then pay attention to the opportunities that come.
