Reflecting on Jesus Confronts the Spiritual Realm
Saturday is a day to reflect on all that God was speaking to you this week and how it will affect your life going forward.
From those of us on the Tree Church Daily team, we hope that you have had an amazing week in your time with God. We pray that you were challenged and encouraged by God’s word and His presence in your daily life.
Today, we want you to do something simple yet important. We want you to take time to write in a notebook, journal, or record a voice memo in your phone answering the prompts below. This does not need to be profound, poetic, or polished. It is a record for you to visit later to see and remember all that God is doing in your life. Journaling is a way to remind you of what God is speaking to you. Speaking something out loud or writing it down makes what we are thinking tangible and makes us accountable to it. If God has challenged you or called you to do something specific this past week, making it tangible makes it real. So don’t skip today…today is about faith building, and that is what we pray happens for you.
Before you get started, let’s pray together:
God, thank You so much for sending Your son as an example of how to live my life. Thank You for being my armor when I walk through difficult and confusing seasons. I pray that during this time of reflection, You will reveal to me the ways Your Holy Spirit prepares and equips me to handle any situation I face. I love You, Lord. Amen.
Here are today’s prompts for you to process through in your written or voice journal:
First, focus on God’s promises to you. God’s presence changes things. We know this based on the example Jesus set for us. Jesus was able to resist temptation and stay in alignment with God because Jesus consistently invited God into every moment. As we prepare to reflect, take a moment to invite God to speak to your heart and mind.
Second, focus on your current reality. Life can be extremely unpredictable and sometimes even scary. Walking in relationship with God does not guarantee us an easy life, but it does guarantee that He will walk with us through every high and every low. What kind of season are you in right now? How can you include God and allow Him to help share the burden?
Lastly, focus on a step where God is challenging you. Jesus was able to resist temptation, cast out demons, and stay on track with His Father’s plan for His life. He was able to do this because He not only turned to God in times of trial but consistently had a rhythm of prayer and time spent listening to His Father’s voice. Are you spending time praying, studying God’s word, and reflecting on what He is teaching you? If not, how can you become more consistent in this area?
