Truth Has Been Revealed – Protected by It
We are purposed to set aside Sundays at the Tree Church Daily as a special time to prepare our hearts and minds for worship, prayer, and fellowship. It is a day to devote to God and learn more about what He wants for our lives. This involves praying and asking the Holy Spirit to speak His truth to us.
Begin your day by thanking God for His presence in your life, and asking God what He has for you today. If you are new to prayer and need some help getting started, then pray along with the opening prayer below. Let’s pray…
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and for giving me life. Thank You for protecting me from all the unseen forces battling for my soul. Help me to listen for Your voice, and to be ever aware of Your supernatural presence in my day-to-day activities. I want to be obedient, and to follow where You lead me. Amen.
We are continuing in the series, Following Jesus. Last week, we learned that true freedom is not achieved by total autonomy with no boundaries or limitations, but by submitting to God’s design for us. This week we will explore how God’s word can protect us from temptation and self-deception, as well as how it can fill us with wisdom, joy, and blessings. Obedience is the key!
As we prepare this week to learn more, take a few moments to consider the following questions. Write your thoughts in a journal, record them on a voice recorder, or just spend some quiet time reflecting on what comes to mind.
How often do you read your Bible? When you have finished reading, do you feel a sense of wholeness, strength, or fulfillment?
How does it make you feel, knowing even Jesus read and lived by God’s word, and found protection and strength in it?
Reading your Bible every day is a great way to help you focus your thoughts and actions on how to protect yourself from the temptations of this world. Reach out to God in prayer, and ask Him to show you additional ways you can become stronger in your faith. Start your prayer by sharing your thoughts and feelings with God, or use the following prompts to help you get started. Don’t rush this process; take as much time as you need.
Father, thank You for Your word, and for the protection I get from just reading and obeying it…
Holy Spirit, please arm me with the weapons I need to become a true disciple…
At church, and throughout your day, continue to seek God’s direction for your life. As we come together for a time of worship, prayer, and teaching, let the presence of God strengthen you and bless you!

During today's devotional an old hymn my mom and I used to sing came to mind. Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. The author of this hymn knew this truth... I think the Lord reminded me of this truth during the devo this morning.
