God Meets Us in Our Pain
Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: Psalm 34:15–18
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
When life shatters our expectations, we often wonder if God sees our suffering. Scripture assures us that the Lord is nearto the brokenhearted. Joseph faced devastating news that turned his world upside down—his betrothed was pregnant, and he knew the child was not his. Yet in his darkest moment, God drew near. Your pain does not distance you from God; it positions you for His presence. He does not minimize your heartbreak or dismiss your tears. Instead, He moves closer, binding up your wounds with compassion. Whatever devastation you’re facing today—loss, betrayal, disappointment—know that God sees you, cares deeply, and is nearer than you realize.
What heartbreak am I carrying that I need to bring honestly before God?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Lord, You see my pain and hear my cries. Draw near to me today and help me trust that You are present even when my heart feels shattered.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Take Action:
- Take five minutes to pray honestly about what hurts most right now.
- Read Psalm 34 slowly and underline every phrase that reveals God’s nearness.
