Remembering the Owner

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.  

Reading: Deuteronomy 8:11–18

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.  
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

In the busyness of building our lives—careers, homes, families—we can slowly forget who made it all possible. God warned Israel at the very moment of blessing: Don’t forget Me. Comfort has a way of dulling memory. The strength you rely on, the opportunities you seized, the stability you enjoy—all were gifts before they were achievements. Remembering God as Owner doesn’t minimize your effort; it places it in the right context. When we forget Him, we carry the weight of provision alone. When we remember Him, gratitude replaces pressure.

What blessings have I credited solely to my own effort, and how can I intentionally acknowledge God as the true source today?

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…  

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).  
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: God, forgive me for the ways I’ve forgotten You in seasons of comfort. Help me remember that everything I have flows from Your hand.
   
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.  

Take Action:

1. Write down three blessings in your life and trace how God provided each one.
   
   
2. Thank God today specifically for the strength, opportunity, and provision behind your success.
