How Long Will You Waver?

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.  

Reading: 1 Kings 18:16-39

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.  
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

Elijah’s challenge echoes through the centuries: “How long will you go limping between two different opinions?” The people’s silence revealed their divided hearts. We may not build altars to Baal, but our calendars and bank statements often reveal our true altars.

The prophets of Baal danced, shouted, and performed, yet “there was no voice. No one answered.” Their god was powerless. Then Elijah prayed, and fire fell. Our God shows up. He always has. When we stop dividing our worship between God and the world’s offerings, we position ourselves to witness His power. The question isn’t whether God is able—it’s whether we’re willing to give Him undivided worship.

What would change in my life if I stopped “limping between two opinions” and fully committed to following God?    

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…  

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).  
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Father, I don’t want to live with a divided heart. Strengthen my faith to trust You completely and remove anything that keeps me from wholehearted devotion. Help me choose You again today and believe that You alone are faithful and powerful enough to meet every need. Amen.
   
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.  

Faith Steps:

1. Identify one area where you have been hesitant to fully obey God and commit it to Him today. 
2. Take one practical step that demonstrates complete trust in God instead of relying on your own plans.
