Hope Beyond Understanding

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.  

Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:16–18

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.  
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

God cannot always make sense to us because His perspective is eternal. He sees the entire story while we see only one page. This reality requires trust, not complete understanding. The disciples trusted Jesus into death because the resurrection gave them hope beyond this life. They suffered the loss of all things because they knew Jesus would give them something immeasurably better. Your faith will only thrive when it's anchored in eternal hope, not temporary comfort. God's purpose isn't merely our happiness but our holiness and His glory across generations. Trust begins at the cross and deepens through relationship. Engage Jesus in your suffering. Ask Him to meet you there. He will, because He's already been there Himself.

Am I willing to trust God with what doesn't make sense, believing His eternal purpose is greater than my temporary understanding?     

What does it look like to live with an eternal perspective in your everyday life?  

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…  

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).  
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Ask God to strengthen your hope in eternity and help you trust Him beyond what you can understand.
   
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.  

Faith Steps:

1. Shift your focus today by intentionally thinking about eternal truth rather than temporary circumstances.
2. Take a moment to surrender something you don’t understand to God and choose to trust Him with it.
