You Are Not Alone
Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: John 14
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
When Jesus told His disciples that He was leaving, they had plenty of reasons to be anxious about the future. They were about to lose His physical presence and would have to navigate life and ministry without Him beside them. But Jesus promised that they would not be left as orphans because the Holy Spirit would come to be with them and live within them. Our peace is not based on having everything figured out or knowing how everything will turn out; our peace begins with knowing that God is with us.
What situation in your life feels less manageable when you think you have to face it alone?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
Faith Step:
When anxiety begins to rise today, pause and simply remind yourself, “I am not alone. The Holy Spirit is with me.”

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Holy Spirit, remind us today that You are with us and in us. Help us become more aware of Your presence when we feel alone, uncertain, or overwhelmed. Teach us to experience Your presence not merely as an idea we believe but as a relationship we live in every day. Amen.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Faith Step:
When anxiety begins to rise today, pause and simply remind yourself, “I am not alone. The Holy Spirit is with me.”
