Great is Our Lord
The basic premise of our current series World Changers is that many of us struggle at times with feeling qualified for the call that God places on our lives, and that’s if we even believe God would call us! We feel unqualified to witness about God because we don’t have all the Bible answers, or we don’t live a perfect life. When God calls us to do specific things, we often see all the ways this seems impossible.
The truth is that this has been a tension throughout the entire Bible. Almost every person was uniquely unqualified for what God called them to do. Being qualified was never a prerequisite for being used by God. There’s only one thing that mattered to Him; are you willing? Those who were willing were used by God, and it not only changed their lives, it changed the world around them.
Each Wednesday, you will receive a scripture to read, a series of reflection questions, and a link to a worship song. Take time to read or listen to the scripture and note any key points that resonate with you. This is often how God speaks to us, so pay close attention and listen for those moments that make you feel comforted, convicted, humbled, or encouraged. The reflection questions will guide you into a time of thinking about how and why it is important to seek God’s presence in our lives. Finally, there will be a link to a YouTube video with worship music. This is supplied to create time to pray and seek God. You can use your own music or sit in silence, but be sure to close your time by asking God to draw near to you.
Psalm 147:5-11 (NASB)
Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;
His understanding is infinite.
The Lord supports the afflicted;
He brings the wicked down to the ground.
Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
Sing praises to our God on the lyre;
It is He who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who provides rain for the earth,
Who makes grass sprout on the mountains.
It is He who gives an animal its food,
And feeds young ravens that cry.
He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.
The Lord favors those who fear Him,
Those who wait for His faithfulness.

Reflection
- Our God is the Great Provider who sustains all things. From the functioning of ecosystems to the individual needs of His creatures, the Lord takes care of us.
- What parts of today’s scripture stand out to you? Take a few minutes and make a list of all the ways God has provided for you today: the food you ate, the prayers He answered, the warm home you live in, or even the peace He has brought you.
- Take time for prayer and thank God for each of the things you wrote down.
