Enduring Faith in the Face of Adversity

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.

Reading: Acts 4:1-13

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

The early disciples faced intense opposition, yet they spoke boldly about Jesus. Their courage came not from their own strength or eloquence but from the Holy Spirit working through them. This passage shows us that God equips those He calls. When we step out in faith, even feeling inadequate, God's power can shine through us. Today, reflect on a situation where you feel ill-equipped to share your faith or stand firm. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with boldness and wisdom. Trust that in your weakness, God’s strength is made perfect.

In what areas do you feel unqualified to share your faith? How can you rely on the Holy Spirit for strength?

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
  1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
  2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Holy Spirit, fill me with boldness to share my faith and stand firm in the face of challenges. Remind me that it is not my ability but Your power that makes a difference. Amen.
  3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

Take Action:
  1. Share a Bible verse or testimony with someone today, trusting God to use your words.
  2. Step out of your comfort zone—volunteer, start a conversation about faith, or pray boldly for someone in need.
