Enticed by Our Desires
James 1:13-15 (NLT)
And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
Reflection
I think we can all agree that sex is one of the strongest temptations that leads many of us into sinful action. James teaches us in today’s reading that temptation comes from our own desires (verse 14). Spend some time today examining your own desires. Confess any sexually immoral desires to your Good Father, who longs to gather you to Himself like a hen gathers her chicks. You might also consider confessing these desires to a trusted friend for accountability.
