Jesus Is With Us
We are purposed to set aside Sundays at Tree Church Daily as a day to prepare for gathering together to worship God. We need the Spirit to lead us and show us what He is currently doing and wants to do in us. This involves praying and asking Him to help us be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are newer to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks to us, pray along with the prayer below, anticipating that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Father, sometimes when I come to You, I know exactly what to say. I know how to ask for the forgiveness, provision, security, and peace that I need. But sometimes I don’t know what to say. Sometimes I come to You and need You to help me find the right words, the right heart, and the right perspective. I am asking today that You would do just that. Fill my thoughts with who You are. Remind me of Your promise to be present with me. Fill my thoughts with what You are leading me to do today. Fill my thoughts with how You want me to love and live with the people around me. But most of all, fill my thoughts with the love You have for me and all You have done to prove that love. Remind me of this every day, all day. Amen.
We are in the final week of the Jesus is With series. This week is designed to bring home the truth that Jesus came to be with the sinner, the rejected, and the broken and that each of us falls within these categories. In essence, Jesus came to be with us! The good news of the Christmas story is that the God, who in every way could have forgotten about us and rejected us, chose us. He chose to come to us. He chose to rescue and redeem us. But this is not just a rescue from an eternity of destruction and death; rather, it’s a rescue from a life without the One who embodies life and love itself. Jesus came to be in relationship WITH us! His becoming man brought peace between God and us. It brought forgiveness for all the wrongs we have done to Him. It brought the hope and lasting joy that only His presence can provide. This week, we celebrate that Jesus’ birth set God’s plan into motion which would ultimately allow you, me, and all His people to dwell with Him.
As you spend time today thinking about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to mentally answer these questions:
What does it mean to you that God wants to be in relationship with you?
How do you think God’s presence could change your life?
Close your time today by talking with God about your thoughts. You can simply start by talking to Him, or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
God, I am not sure why You want to be with me. Could you speak to me about that today?
God, what does a relationship with You even look like when I struggle with ______?
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church today, ask God to speak to you today!
