Look Up
Sunday is the day most churches gather to worship. In anticipation of what God wants to do in us this week, and how He wants to speak to us at the weekly gathering, Sundays at Tree Church Daily are a day to prepare for God to move in our week. We ask the Spirit to lead us and show us what He is doing in us. This involves praying and asking Him to allow us to be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are newer to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks to us, pray along with the prayer below, expecting that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Holy Spirit,
Will You meet me here today and show me Your presence? I need to know that You are leading, guiding, and helping me face life. I pray that Your presence today would quiet my anxiety and my fears. I pray that whatever this day brings, You would show Yourself sufficient to sustain and satisfy me. As I set today aside to worship You and reflect on Your words to Your church, please teach me truth and give me the courage to walk in it. Amen.
Today we will start a new series called Verdict. We will look at the complexities of making decisions in our every day lives. How do we make wise decisions? And more importantly, how do we learn to make godly decisions? This week, we will focus on the importance of the role seeking God plays in making decisions. Much of our struggle with inviting God into our daily lives is that we don’t know that He cares about the details of our lives, and we aren’t sure how to recognize how (or when) He is leading us. This involves creating time and habits in our lives dedicated to hearing God speak as the Spirit opens our eyes to His Word and gives us insight into our lives that are informed by God’s wisdom.
As you spend time today thinking about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to mentally answer these questions:
Is taking your cares and concerns to God something that comes natural to you? Why do you think this has, or has not been, your habit?
Do you think that God really cares about the details of your life?
Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts here. You can simply start by talking to Him or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
Father, I don’t bring my needs to You because…
Spirit, show me how to recognize Your voice and actions in my life…
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church, ask God to speak to you today!
