Look Down
We are purposed to set aside Sundays at Tree Church Daily as a day to prepare for gathering together to worship God. We need the Spirit to lead us and show us what He is doing currently and wants to do in us. This involves praying and asking Him to allow us to be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are new to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks to us, pray along with the prayer below, expecting that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Spirit,
Speak to me today! I need Your guidance, Your strength, and Your hope. Help me to look to You for all my needs today, trusting that You will provide just as Jesus said You would. So, as I set this time aside to seek You and hear Your voice…meet me here. Amen.
This week in the Verdict series, we will be exploring the idea of thinking through the consequences of our actions before we make a decision. We have said throughout this series that our decisions set us down a path. That path is the consequences of our decisions, for good and for bad. We have to get comfortable with pausing and thinking through the potential outcomes of the decision we are about to make. In addition to seeking God, giving ourselves time to gain perspective might be the most important thing we do to make good decisions. At the same time, we can’t be crippled by overthinking. It takes both wisdom and trust.
As you start to think about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind, or feel free to write them in a journal.
Are you typically an impulsive decision maker or an overthinker?
How has this style of decision making hindered you in your life?
Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts here. You can simply start by talking to Him, or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
God, I am facing this decision and want to move now. Can you help me be patient…
God, I am not sure what would happen if I made this decision this way. Please give me insight for…
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church today, ask God to speak to you today!
