The Cross Brings Clarity of God’s Love
Sunday is the day most churches gather for worship. At the Tree Church, we like to be purposed to take the time to prepare our hearts for what God wants to do through corporate worship. We believe the Spirit meets with us daily, yet something unique happens when we gather to worship together. We want to be attentive to what the Spirit is doing in these moments, because when the Spirit speaks, it has the potential to change and empower our lives. Today is about praying and asking Him to help us be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are new to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks, pray the prayer below, anticipating that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Spirit,
You are kind and good, and You promise to never leave me or forsake me. Even when I am hard-hearted, distracted, or simply unaware of Your presence, You are with me. I believe that truth today. I believe You want to do something in me. Help me to hear You, help me to see You, and help me to desire the things You want for my life. Amen.
As we celebrate resurrection and the potential for new life, we are reminded of God’s love for us. It was at the Cross that Jesus gave His life for us. He ransomed us back from sin, rescued us from our self-destruction, and reconciled us back to God in His victory over sin and death. He gave us hope for resurrected life. And if we ever doubt His love for us, if we ever question why or how He could love us, we need only look to the Cross and remember the price He was willing to pay, so we could have resurrected life.
As you start to think about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind, or feel free to write them in a journal.
Have you ever wanted something so badly that you gave your time, energy, and money to have it?
Have you ever doubted that God could love you?
Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts. You can simply start by talking to Him, or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
God, sometimes I wonder why You love me in my brokenness…
God, help me to see the love You have for me…
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church, ask God to speak to you today!
