By Faith
Today, we will be looking at how we should respond when Jesus calls us to step out into the unknown. Before we dive in, let’s spend some time in prayer.
God, be with me in this time. Speak to me the things You want me to know. Show me areas where I can grow and the steps to take to do so. Open my heart and mind to hear and obey You. Amen.
Hebrews 11:8 (NLT)
8 It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.
One of the scariest things I’ve ever done was leave everyone and everything to move to a different country - a place where I knew nobody, didn’t speak the language, and had no idea what life would look like. Just like Abraham, God called me to leave my home to go to another land.
Maybe you haven’t felt called to leave your home to go somewhere else, but we all have callings on our lives. Whether it’s how we raise our families or what career path we will follow, God has specific things He has called each of us to do. Take a moment to think about this specific season of life. What is God calling you to? What are some specific steps He is calling you to take?
When it comes to God’s calling, oftentimes we feel as though we are being called to take steps that are scary. We don’t always understand them. This can lead us into stepping away from those next steps. We allow fear to dictate what we do and how we handle these things. But like Abraham, we have to obey in faith. I didn’t move to a different country because I wanted to; I did it because God called me to. I put my faith in Him, and though it was scary, God provided. When God calls you to something, He provides and blesses your obedience. What step of faith do you need to take to experience God’s provision and blessing?
Spend some time in prayer and feel free to use the prayer prompts to get you started.
Ask God to reveal the faith step you need to take.
Surrender your will to Him and be open to receiving His blessing.
I pray that you are open to the calling God has for your life today and every day.
