Jesus Confronts the Spiritual Realm
Sundays at Tree Church Daily are a day to prepare our hearts for what He wants to do through corporate worship. We need the Spirit to lead us and show us what He is doing currently and wants to do in us. This involves praying and asking Him to allow us to be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are new to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks to us, pray the prayer below, anticipating that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Holy Spirit,
It can be confusing and scary to think how easily I am influenced and how vulnerable I am to temptation. I need Your help to stay focused on You. I need clarity to hear Your voice. I need Your protection, grace, and strength as I navigate this world. Help me.
It is really tempting in our modern world to relegate “spiritual forces” to the big screen and to superstitions of the past. We live in a material world, and we don’t think much past what we can see, taste, touch, and smell. But the Scriptures operate from a framework where the spiritual and the physical are more intricately involved than we see. God is Spirit, and He made us and our world to be the place where the spiritual and material intersect. So, when the Bible speaks to the nature of both our struggles and successes, it always includes the way the spiritual is interacting in those moments. It should not surprise us then that we have spiritual enemies impacting our physical lives. It makes it all the more important that we become aware of and depend on the Spirit of God.
As you start to think about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind or feel free to write them in a journal somewhere.
Where are the places you struggle the most in life?
Have you ever considered that it may be more than just a physical struggle?
Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts here. You can simply start by talking to Him, or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
Ask God to open your heart and mind to His presence and then sit quietly for a moment. Begin to talk to God about everything that comes to your mind.
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church today ask God to speak to you today!
