Faultless
We have been walking through our current series of Following Jesus, and this week we are focusing on the concept of peace with God towards us. Today we will discuss how we can stand faultless in the presence of God.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy and grace. I ask You to remind me of the freedom I have access to in Your name. Amen.
Colossians 1:19-22 (NLT)
20 and through him God reconciled
everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth
by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
Sometimes I allow doubt to creep in, to plant the seed that I’m not good enough to experience the fullness of God’s grace. The key word here is “allow.” We are not called to live an existence full of shame, walking around feeling sorry for everything we have ever done. As people living in a world full of people, it is inevitable we will walk through conflicts. Yet, we are called to reconcile with love, forgive, and not carry guilt. Our debt was not paid out for us to carry it like the bill was left unsigned. Have you ever walked away from a resolved argument still feeling unsettled? Like the fault was still to be brought to justice?
Through the blood of Christ, we stand before God faultless (verse 20). The debt has been paid. Sin and shame can no longer hold us back from experiencing the presence of God the Father. Because of Jesus’ act of love, we can walk freely in grace and freedom. We can invite the Creator of creation into the carpool to work, to cheer us on in the gym, to hold our hand when we feel lost, and to show us the way back home. We are reconciled to Him through His death, and He is proud when you walk in such confidence that you are in fact free. Take a few moments and look in the mirror. Imagine Christ looking at you and seeing someone He loves. Imagine Him seeing someone faultless.
Today, take your doubt and conflicts before God in prayer. Below are some prompts to help get you started.
Lord, help me to remember that I roll out of bed into Your throne room free from fault.
Lord, please guide me to live for You today in a way that pleases and glorifies You.
May you see yourself from a heavenly point of view.
