Shield of Faith – Shaped by the Fiery Darts
Today, let us prepare our hearts for what God wants to do through time in corporate worship. We need the Spirit to lead us and show us what He is doing currently and wants to do in us. This involves praying and asking Him to allow us to be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are new to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks to us, pray the prayer below expecting that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
God,
As I set aside time to meet with You today, will You please meet me here? I need You just as I need the breath in my lungs. I don’t always understand why I must face the difficult circumstances that I do, but I want to trust You in the good and the bad. Please help me to surrender everything I am to You. Amen!
As we continue to talk about the Armor of God from Ephesians 6, one thing we must come to terms with is that we are in a battle, and battles are not easy. No matter how careful we are, the battle can, and will, affect us. Suffering, trials, difficulty, fear, insecurity, and the like will at times still get through. Part of utilizing the Shield of Faith is realizing that even during trials, God is good, and He has a plan and a purpose for us. Even more so, He can use these moments of difficulty and pain for good!
As you start to think about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind, or feel free to write them in a journal somewhere.
Why is it so counter-intuitive to us that suffering and trials could be good things?
What would it look like to surrender your deepest pain and allow God to transform it?
Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts here. Take time to pray through the following prompts. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
Ask God to meet you today and begin to speak to Him about the difficulties you are facing.
Talk to Him about your trust in Him and where you might lack trust.
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church, ask God to speak to you today!
