A Week in the Psalms
We are purposed to set aside Sundays at the Tree Church Daily as a special time to engage our hearts and minds in worship, prayer, and fellowship. It is a day to devote to God, and for seeking His will for our lives. This involves praying and asking the Holy Spirit to speak His truth to us. As you start your day, let’s pray…
Heavenly Father, You are my source of light in an often dark world. Help me, Lord, to always follow Your light as I try to navigate through the turmoil and confusion life sometimes throws my way. I trust You and You alone to guide me, protect me, and encourage me along my path. Thank You for Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
This week, we return to the book of Psalms. A call for stability, a heartfelt request for protection, and a cry for relief from despair. These are just some of the emotions David pours out to God in the psalms we will focus on this week. But David knows that even if God doesn’t answer him immediately, in time, his faith and trust in God will be rewarded.
As we prepare this week to learn more, take a few moments to consider the following questions. Write your thoughts in a journal, record them on a voice recorder, or just spend some quiet time reflecting on what comes to mind.
When you experience problems and hardships, do you still worship God and thank Him for loving you?
Do you sometimes get impatient and frustrated when God doesn’t answer your prayers?
Do the standards you live by come from God or the culture that surrounds us?
Today, go to God in prayer, and just like the psalmists, share with Him your burdens and frustrations, as well as your devotion and thankfulness. Listen to what He has for you. If needed, use the following prompts to help you get started. Don’t rush your time with God; take as much time as you need.
God, please forgive me when I doubt or become impatient with Your perfect timing…
Holy Spirit, thank You for protecting my heart and guarding my soul as I go through life…
At church, and throughout your day, reach out to God and seek the same honest and genuine relationship with God as the writers of the psalms had.
