Persistence of Prayer
We are purposed to set aside Sundays at the Tree Church Daily as a special time to engage our hearts and minds in worship, prayer, and fellowship. It is a day to devote to God, and for seeking His will for our lives. This involves praying and asking the Holy Spirit to speak His truth to us. As you start your day, let’s pray…
Heavenly Father, I need You to speak to me today. I need Your comfort and assurance that I am Your child and even though I am not worthy, I can come to You anytime and find You. Through the highs and lows of life, I am so blessed to know I can come to You in prayer and regain the strength I need to make it through another day. I love You, Lord. Amen.
Last week, we focused on going privately before God in prayer. This week, we will look at the importance and rhythm of persistence in our prayers. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul reminds us to “Never stop praying.”
We should never give up in our relentless pursuit of God through prayer. Our persistence helps us grow spiritually, and to develop and stay in a rhythm of prayer so that we can better listen for what God has for us.
As we prepare this week to learn more, take a few moments to consider the following questions. Write your thoughts in a journal, record them on a voice recorder, or just spend some quiet time reflecting on what comes to mind.
Do you ever worry you are asking God for too much or too often? Why do you think that?
Do you ever feel like God is tired of hearing your prayers?
Today, as you pray, remember God is listening and wants to hear the sweet sound of your prayers. Don’t rush your time with God; take as much time as you need.
God, I love You, and am so thankful You hear me when I pray…
Holy Spirit, help me to always find time to reach out to You…
At church, and throughout your day, reach out to God. Develop and maintain a rhythm of prayer so you can feel His presence every day!
