Serving as Worship
Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: John 13:1-17
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
When Jesus wrapped a towel around His waist and washed His disciples' feet, He wasn't just teaching a lesson—He was establishing a new standard. God Himself, in human flesh, performed the task reserved for the lowest servant. This wasn't a one-time demonstration; it revealed the ongoing heart of God toward us. He still serves us with grace, pursues us in our brokenness, and works in our situations. Serving isn't just an activity; it's an act of worship that realigns our hearts with God's heart. When we serve, we don't just help others—we become more like Jesus. Every act of service is a declaration that we trust God's way over the world's way. Today, look for one opportunity to serve someone in a way that costs you something—time, comfort, or pride.
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: “Jesus, You knelt and washed feet. Help me to serve with humility and joy. Let my service be worship—an offering that reflects Your heart to the world.”
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Faith Steps:
- Do one act of service that costs you something—time, comfort, or convenience.
- Before serving, quietly dedicate the act to God as worship, not obligation.
