Worthy of Praise
1 Chronicles 16:23-27 (NLT)
Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Great is the Lord! He is worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling.
Reflection
If you have been in church for any amount of time, you have seen worship. Worship can be intimidating, but the reasoning behind it makes it worth doing! Worship is powerful. It is a moment where you set aside time to release your cares and worries to the Lord. In those moments of worship, you are focused on how powerful He truly is. You’re focused on His love, mercy, and grace. In those moments, your mind is taken off of your problems, and you are able to step into His presence and worship Him for who He is and what He has done.
Worship is when we are outwardly and publicly declaring praise to God. We are recognizing His goodness and portraying our gratitude to Him for all that He has done in our lives. As I said before, worship can be intimidating; but as Christians, we should want to worship. Worship is so important because it is a celebration and a reminder of who God is. The first step to take towards a genuine experience of worship is to have a desire and a thirst to know God. Pray that God stirs that desire in your heart. Pray that during those moments of worship, God will reveal to you how He has already worked in your life and praise Him for that! Pray that He will continue to reveal Himself to you. Worship is truly the only fitting way to thank Him for what He has done.
Matthew 17:5 says, “But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.’ ” Each and every day, we should want to proclaim the good news of who Jesus is. Jesus is the Son of God. He is our Savior and our example. Genuine worship, overflowing from a heart of thankfulness, is the only worthy response to the truth of who Jesus is.
Action Steps
1. Our attitude towards God determines our view of worship. Read Psalm 100:4 and Psalm 122:1, then reflect on your attitude toward worship. Are you eager and excited to come into His presence? Or are you just going through the motions?
2. Listen to the song “You Deserve It All” by Josh Baldwin. Reflect on who Jesus truly is and be reminded of how deserving He is of our worship!
